DESCRIPTION:Purdue University’s Women in Aerospace and Graduate Women’s Group will hold the Amelia Earhart Aerospace Summit 2019 from September 21-22\, 2019 at the Wilmeth Active Learning Center on Purdue’s West Lafayette\, Indiana campus.  It is part of the university’s celebration of its 150th anniversary. \nMore information is on the event’s website. \nThe event is co-sponsored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics\, which provides this description: \nThe 2019 Amelia Earhart Aerospace Summit is a national event during Purdue’s 150th anniversary year\, intended to empower all students to pursue careers in aerospace industry\, academia\, and government\, and to provide the opportunity to expand their personal and professional networks through interactions with preeminent leaders in these fields. The event hopes to acknowledge both the gender disparity as well as the significant social and cultural advancements in the aerospace field\, while seeking out ways for students to make an impact. The summit will feature speakers representing a wide variety of aerospace-related fields\, including Virgin Galactic’s Chief Astronaut Instructor\, Beth Moses\, former Assistant U.S. Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisitions\, Sue Payton\, Blue Origin’s Configuration Design Engineer\, Tamaira Ross\, JPL’s Mars2020 Lead Planetary Protection Engineer\, Moogega Cooper Stricker\, and Purdue’s Hsu Lo Distinguished Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics\, Kathleen Howell. Summit events will include a ‘Careers in Space Exploration’ panel\, a research poster competition\, a research art exhibit\, professional development workshops\, and a banquet. \n
