Live coverage begins here on Monday at 7:00 a.m. CDT. pic.twitter.com/3TRvxPFHKZ \n— Blue Origin (@blueorigin) April 11\, 2025 \n \nOriginal Entry: Blue Origin will launch its next suborbital New Shepard flight\, NS-31\, from West Texas on April 14\, 2025. The launch window opens at 8:30 am CENTRAL Time (9:30 am Eastern). \nBlue Origin is heralding this flight as the first all-female space crew since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova flew solo on Vostok 6 in 1963. \nMany women have flown in space since\, but on crews that included men. \nThe six passengers include singer Katy Perry\, CBS journalist Gayle King\, and Lauren Sánchez\, fiancée of Jeff Bezos\, who owns Blue Origin. The other three are Aisha Bowe\,Kerianne Flynn\, and Amanda Ngyuen. Bowe is an aerospace engineer who spent part of her career at NASA’s Ames Research Center and is an advocate for STEM education and now is CEO of STEMBoard and founder of LINGO. Flynn’s career began in fashion and human resources\, but more recently she produced two films about women — This Changes Everything (2018) and LILLY (2024) about Lilly Ledbetter. Nyugen\, a bioastronautics research scientist who was a NASA intern in 2011 and 2013\, advocates for victims of sexual violence through her nonprofit organization Rise. A sexual violence survivor herself\, she was one of TIME’s Women of the Year in 2022 and will be the first Vietnamese woman in space (Pham Tuân was the first Vietnamese in space on a Soviet mission to the Salyut 6 space station in 1980). \n \nBlue Origin released the mission patch on March 27.
