DESCRIPTION:Dean Cheng will discuss his new book\, China and the New Moon Race\, with Scott Pace on January 14\, 2025 from 3:00-4:30 pm ET at George Washington University’s Space Policy Institute (SPI)\, part of the Elliott School of International Affairs\, 1957 E Street\, NW\, Washington\, DC.  The event will be webcast.  Register to get the link. \nMore information is on the event’s website\, which says: \nABOUT THE AUTHOR \nDean Cheng currently serves as a non-resident scholar with the George Washington\nUniversity Space Policy Institute\, a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Potomac Institute\nfor Policy Studies\, and as a Senior Adviser to the China Studies program with the US\nInstitute of Peace. He retired as the Senior Research Fellow for Chinese Political and\nMilitary Affairs at the Heritage Foundation after 13 years. He is fluent in Chinese\, and\nuses Chinese language materials regularly in his work. \nPrior to joining the Heritage Foundation\, he worked at the Center for Naval Analyses\n(CNA)\, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center\, Science Applications\nInternational Corporation (SAIC)\, and as an analyst with the US Congress’ Office of\nTechnology Assessment. \nHe is the author of the volume Cyber Dragon: Inside China’s Information Warfare and\nCyber Operations (Praeger Publishing\, 2016)\, and has written extensively on Chinese\nviews of deterrence\, Chinese views of space power\, and Chinese mobilization\, and\ncontributed to a number of volumes on the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.\nHe has testified before Congress numerous times\, and spoken at the National Space\nSymposium\, the US National Defense University\, the USSTRATCOM Deterrence\nSymposium\, Harvard\, and MIT. \n
