DESCRIPTION:The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will hold an open commission meeting on August 5\, 2022 beginning at 10:30 am ET.  The announcement of the meeting says this about public attendance: \nWhile attendance at the Open Meeting is available to the public\, the FCC headquarters building\nis not open access\, and all guests must check in with and be screened by FCC security at the\nmain entrance on L Street. Attendees at the Open Meeting will not be required to have an\nappointment but must otherwise comply with protocols outlined at: www.fcc.gov/visit. Open\nMeetings are streamed live at: www.fcc.gov/live and on the FCC’s YouTube channel. \nThe agenda lists a number of space-related topics that will be discussed\, including the FCC’s intention to open a Notice of Inquiry regarding In-Space Servicing\, Assembly\, and Manufacturing (ISAM). \nTITLE: Space Innovation (IB Docket No 22-271);\nFacilitating Capabilities for In-Space Servicing\,\nAssembly\, and Manufacturing (IB Docket No. 22-\n272)\nSUMMARY: The Commission will consider a\nNotice of Inquiry (NOI) that would examine\nopportunities and challenges of in-space servicing\,\nassembly\, and manufacturing – or “ISAM” – that\ncan support sustained economic activity in space.\nThis NOI would develop an up-to-date record on\ncurrent ISAM activities and seek input on steps the\nCommission might take to facilitate ISAM\nmissions\, including through updates to\nCommission rules and processes. \nThe FCC assigns frequencies in the radio spectrum to non-government users. \n
