DESCRIPTION:The House Science\, Space and Technology (S&T) Committee will hold a markup on April 29\, 2025 at 10:00 am ET in 2318 Rayburn House Office Building.  The meeting will be webcast on the committee’s website. \nThree of the six bills that will be considered are space-related. The ASTRO Act and the ASCEND both passed the House in the 118th Congress\, but there was no further action so are up for consideration again (bills that don’t pass one Congress must be reintroduced in the next). \nFull Committee Markup of:\nH.R. 2984\, ASTRO Act \nAmends title 31\, United States Code\, to authorize transportation for United States government astronauts returning from space between their residence and various locations. \nH.R. 2600\, ASCEND Act \nDirects the NASA Administrator to establish a commercial satellite data acquisition program under NASA’s Science Mission Directorate to satisfy the scientific\, operational\, and educational requirements of the Administration. \nH.R. 2313\, Celestial Time Standardization Act \nDirects the NASA Administrator to develop a celestial time standard to support future operations and infrastructure on and around the Moon and other celestial bodies. \nH.R. 2613\, Next Generation Pipelines Research and Development Act \nStrengthens public-private partnerships\, increases federal research\, development\, and demonstration related to the evolution of next-generation pipeline systems\, and modernizes existing infrastructure. \nH.R.1223\, ANCHOR Act \nStrengthens the cyberinfrastructure and communication systems of the U.S. Academic Research Fleet to better support and safeguard oceanographic research in remote locations. \nH.R. ____\, Nucleic Acid Standards for Biosecurity Act \nStrengthens biosecurity without regulation by supporting voluntary\, stakeholder-driven nucleic acid synthesis standards\, safeguarding innovation and national security.
