SUMMARY:HOUSE T&I CMTE MARKUP OF FAA REAUTHORIZATION BILL\, June 13\, 2023\, DC\, 10:00 am ET
DESCRIPTION:The House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee will mark up its version of the FAA reauthorization bill on June 13\, 2023 at 10:00 am ET. The bill is H.R. 3935\, Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation. \nThe FAA must be reauthorized every 5 years. The last bill was enacted in 2018. \nThe 773-page bill as it will be considered on June 13 is posted on the committee’s website. Very little of the bill addresses the FAA’s role in regulating\, facilitating and promoting the commercial space launch and reentry business\, but there are sections on spaceports\, commercial space transportation statistics\, and commercial space transporation accident investigations. \n(The Senate Commerce Committee will mark up its version of the bill on June 15\, but the text was not available as of June 11). \n(The House Science\, Space\, and Technology Committee has jurisdiction over FAA R&D and will mark up its bill on June 14. The bill does not appear to directly affect FAA’s commercial space transportation activities.)
