ICESAT-2 LAUNCH, Sept 15, 2018, Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, 5:46 am Pacific Time (8:46 am Eastern)

NASA will launch the Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) on September 15, 2018 at 5:46 am Pacific Time (8:46 am Eastern) from Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA on a United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket.  This is the last launch of the venerable Delta 2.

ICESat-2 carries NASA’s most advanced laser altimeter to measure Earth’s changing ice.

It is a follow-on to the ICESat mission that operated from 2003-2009.
