YET ANOTHER NEW TIME

INTUITIVE MACHINES’ IM-1 LANDS ON MOON, Feb 22, 2024, 6:24 pm ET (NASA TV begins 5:00 pm ET)

Update, February 22, 3:00 pm ET:  They’ve changed the time yet again. Decided to make one more orbit of the Moon. Landing now at 6:24 pm ET. NASA TV begins 5:00 pm ET.

Update, February 22, 11:45 am ET:  IM has moved up the landing time based on new orbital parameters.  Landing now expected today at 4:24 pm EST (instead of 5:30 pm EST) and NASA TV coverage begins at 3:00 pm EST.  IM will webcast it on its own website as well. [NOTE: IM is in Houston so uses Central Standard Time, CST, in its announcements. Add 1 for EST.]

Update, February 21: IM-1 entered lunar orbit today and the company updated the landing time tomorrow to 5:30 pm ET instead of 5:49 pm ET.  NASA TV coverage will begin at 4:00 pm ET instead of 4:15 pm ET.

Update, February 20: NASA will webcast the landing beginning at 4:15 pm ET on Thursday.

Update, February 19, 11:00 pm ET:  IM has revealed the landing time on Thursday: 16:49 Central Standard Time, which is 5:49 pm Eastern.


Original Entry: Intuitive Machines’ IM-1 lander, named Odysseus, is scheduled to land on the Moon near the South Pole on February 22, 2024.  The company has declined so far to reveal the time, though IM Vice President for Space Systems Trent Martin said at a February 13 pre-launch briefing that it would be “late in the day.”

IM-1 was successfully launched on February 15 at 1:05 am ET.
