ISS Contingency Spacewalk, May 2017, Earth orbit

Two International Space Station (ISS) crewmembers will make a contingency (unplanned) spacewalk on May 23, 2017 to replace a failed multiplexer-demultiplexer box. NASA’s Peggy Whitson and Jack Fischer will make an approximately 2-hour extravehicular activity (EVA) to to replace the data relay box, which was only installed on March 30 during a spacewalk by Whitson and NASA’s Shane Kimbrough.
This will be Whitson’s 10th spacewalk and Fischer’s second. The spacewalk will begin about 8:00 am ET. NASA TV coverage begins at 6:30 am ET.
