DESCRIPTION:The DC chapter of the International Space University-US Alumni Association\, ISU-DC\, will hold its next Space Cafe on July 11\, 2017 at Cotton & Reed\, 1330 5th St.\, NE\, Washington\, DC at 7:00 pm ET.   The topic is “Food\, Fires\, Forests and Floods:  NASA Earth Science Applications Making a Difference at Home and Abroad.” Panelists are:  \n\nDalia Kirschbaum\, Research Physical Scientist\, Hydrological Sciences Lab\, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center\nDouglas Morton\, Earth scientist\, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Adjunct Professor\, University of Maryland\nAssaf Anyamba\, Research scientist\, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center\n\nIf you have any questions\, contact Angela Puera at isudcspacecafe@gmail.com. \nThe emailed announcement is reproduced below: \n  \n \n Greetings!  The International Space University-US Alumni Association’s Washington\, DC Chapter presents monthly Space Cafes!  \n These events bring together prominent experts on space\, ISU alumni\, the space community\, and the interested public in a casual forum that encourages interaction and discussion.  \n The Space Cafes begin at 7pm and are hosted by the Cotton & Reed\, located at 1330 5th Street\, NE\, Washington\, DC:  https://www.cottonandreed.com/home.  \n This month’s panel will discuss the topic “Food\, Fires\, Forests and Floods: NASA Earth Science Applications Making a  Difference at Home and Abroad”. NASA Earth Sciences play a valuable role to improve lives in application areas such  as agriculture\, forestry\, fire management\, flood response\, and air quality.  \n Join three Earth scientists from NASA Goddard’s Space Flight Center in Greenbelt\, MD as they share stories showing how they apply their research in hydrology\, precipitation\, landslide forecasting\, ecology\, and forest degradation to help  improve decision making and keep people safe around the world.  \n Panelists will be:  Dr. Dalia B.
