SUMMARY:JAPANESE SPACE POLICY IN TRANSITION (SPI)\, May 5\, 2023\, DC/virtual\, 3:00-4:30 pm ET
DESCRIPTION:George Washington University’s Space Policy Institute will hold a hybrid seminar on May 5\, 2023 from 3:00-4:30 pm ET. \nThe topic is “Japanese Space Policy in Transition” and features Motoko Mizuno\, a member of Japan’s Diet [parliament] and formerly worked at JAXA. \nThe meeting will take place in-person at GW’s Elliott School of International Affairs\, 1957 E Street\, NW\, Washington\, DC and online. \nMore information and registration instructions are on the event’s website\, which says: \nMs. Mizuno was recently elected to the House of Councillors\, part of the upper house of the Japanese Diet. She is a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party\, which is the largest opposition party in the Diet. Prior to her election\, she was a long-time member of the Japanese space agency\, JAXA\, and a lecturer at the University of Tokyo. She has a strong background in international space cooperation and space law. Her remarks will cover current Japanese space policy and activities\, and challenges for JAXA as Japan increases the range and scope of its space activities. \nThis hybrid event is open to the public and media and it will be recorded. Guest are welcome to join us in-person at the Elliott School of International Affairs or online via Zoom. Please register for more information on how to access the event.
