UPDATE, November 8: The launch is now scheduled for November 14 and these pre-launch briefings will take place on November 12 at the same times as previously planned.

Original Story: NASA and NOAA will hold two pre-launch briefings in advance of the launch of NOAA’s JPSS-1 weather satellite, the first of a new series of polar-orbiting weather satellites. Launch is currently scheduled for November 10 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA at 1:47 am Pacific Time (4:47 am Eastern). The briefings will take place two days before launch so if the launch date slips, so will the date for these briefings. They will be broadcast on NASA TV.
Pre-launch status briefing, 1:00 pm PT (4:00 pm ET)
Briefing participants will be:
- Steve Volz, director, NOAA’s Satellite and Information Service
- Greg Mandt, director, Joint Polar Satellite System Program
- Sandra Smalley, director, Joint Agency Satellite Division, NASA Headquarters
- Omar Baez, NASA launch director
- Scott Messer, United Launch Alliance program manager for NASA missions
- Capt. Ross Malugani, launch weather officer, Vandenberg Air Force Base 30th Space Wing
Science briefing, 2:30 pm PT (5:30 pm ET)
Briefing participants will be:
