SUMMARY:LAUNCH OF NASA'S GOLD INSTRUMENT ON SES-14\, Jan 25\, 2018\, Kourou\, French Guiana\, 5:20 pm ET (webcast)
DESCRIPTION:NASA will broadcast the launch of the SES-14 communications satellite on an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou\, French Guiana at 5:20 pm ET.  An earth science instrument\, the Global-scale Observations of the Limb and Disk (GOLD)\, is a “hosted payload” on the SES-14 satellite. \nNASA will provide live coverage of the launch on NASA TV beginning at 5:00 pm ET.  In addition to live coverage from Kourou\, there will be briefings from the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado-Boulder and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center\, Greenbelt\, MD.  LASP built the GOLD instrument. \nNASA is also holding a media telecon about GOLD the day prior to the launch (January 24).
