SUMMARY:LAUNCH AND DOCKING OF SOYUZ MS-15 TO ISS\, Sept 25\, 2019\, LAUNCH: Kazakhstan\, 9:57 am EDT; DOCK: 3:45 pm ET
DESCRIPTION:The launch of Soyuz MS-15 to the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled for September 25\, 2019 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. \nLaunch time is 9:57 am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).  Docking with the ISS is expected about 6 hours later at 3:45 pm ET. \nNASA TV will cover the — \n\nlaunch beginning at 9:00 am ET\,\ndocking beginning at 3:00 pm ET and\nhatch opening beginning at 5:00 pm ET.\n\nThis is a somewhat unusual mission not only because it carries a “spaceflight participant” (tourist) from the United Arab Emirates (UAE)\, but because with the arrival of these three crew members\, the ISS will have 9 occupants instead of the usual 6.   It will be only for eight days\, but it is rare that so many people are on board at one time. \nThe three crew members launching on this mission are: \n\nJessica Meir (NASA) who will return in the spring of 2020 with Skripochka and Morgan\nOleg Skripochka (Roscosmos) who will return in the spring of 2020 with Meir and Morgan\nHazzaa Ali Almansoori (United Arab Emirates) who will return on October 3\, 2019 with Hague and Ovchinin\n\nThe six people who will be on ISS already are: \n\nChristina Koch (NASA) who arrived in March 2019 and will return in February 2020 with Parmitano and Skvortsov\nNick Hague (NASA) who arrived in March 2019 and will return on October 3\, 2019 with Almansoori and Ovchinin\nAleksey Ovchinin (Roscosmos) who arrived in March 2019 and will return on October 3\, 2019 with Almansoori and Hague\nDrew Morgan (NASA) who will arrive in July 2019 and return in the spring of 2020 with Meir and Skripochka\nLuca Parmitano (ESA) who will arrive in July 2019 and return in February 2020 with Koch and Skvortsov\nOleg Skripochka (Roscosmos) who will arrive in July 2019 and return in the spring of 2020 with Morgan and Meir\n\nNote:  Soyuz MS-14 is an uncrewed mission to test a modified launch abort system for integration into a different version of the Soyuz rocket (Soyuz 2.1a) that Russia uses for these missions. \n
