DESCRIPTION:NASA will hold a briefing on October 31\, 2018 at 1:30 pm ET at NASA HQ in Washington\, DC on the upcoming landing of Mars InSight.  The probe will land on Mars on November 26 at 3:00 pm ET.  It will study the deep interior of Mars to learn how all celestial bodies with rocky surfaces\, including Earth and the Moon\, formed. The lander’s instruments include a seismometer to detect marsquakes and a probe to monitor the flow of heat in the planet’s subsurface. \nInSight is an acronym for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations\, Geodesy and Heat Transport \nParticipants in the October 31 briefing are: \n\nLori Glaze\, acting director of the Planetary Science Division\, NASA Headquarters\nBruce Banerdt\, InSight principal investigator\, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory\nTom Hoffman\, InSight project manager at JPL\nSue Smrekar\, InSight deputy principal investigator at JPL\nJaime Singer\, InSight instrument deployment lead at JPL\n\nThe briefing will air live on NASA Television\, the agency’s website and the NASA InSight Facebook page.
