DESCRIPTION:Update\, Sepember 26\, 4:45 pm ET:  The brieding now is at 5:15 pm ET. \nUpdate\, September 26\, 4:30 pm ET:  NASA now says the briefing will be at 5:00 pm ET.  Participants are: \n\nKathryn Lueders\, associate administrator\, Space Operations Mission Directorate\, NASA Headquarters\nKelvin Manning\, deputy director\, NASA’s Kennedy Space Center (NEW)\nSteve Stich\, manager\, Commercial Crew Program\, NASA Kennedy\nJoel Montalbano\, manager\, International Space Station\, NASA’s Johnson Space Center\nEmily Nelson\, chief flight director\, Flight Operations Directorate\, NASA Johnson\nWilliam Gerstenmaier\, vice president\, Build and Flight Reliability\, SpaceX\nJunichi Sakai\, manager\, International Space Station Program\, JAXA\n\nKrikalev no longer is on the list. \n  \nOriginal Entry: NASA will hold a media teleconference on September 26\, 2022 following the Flight Readiness Review for the SpaceX Crew-5 launch to the International Space Station\, which is scheduled for October 3. \nThis is the first U.S. launch carrying a Russian cosmonaut\, Anna Kikina\, since the two countries signed a crew exchange agreement in July. Flights of Russian cosmonauts on the U.S. space shuttle were common in the mid-late 1990s (the Shuttle-Mir program) and early 2000s\, but the last was in November 2002. No Russians flew on the shuttle after the February 1\, 2003 Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy. Americans routinely fly on Russia’s Soyuz spacecraft. NASA paid Russia for those flights from 2006 until last year\, but now that SpaceX’s Crew Dragon is operational\, the two countries are returning to the original no-exchange-of-funds model where each country provides crew transportation services for the other — seat swaps. \nThe time for the briefing is approximately 4:00 or 4:30 pm ET depending on when the review ends.  Briefing participants are: \n\nKathryn Lueders\, associate administrator\, Space Operations Mission Directorate\, NASA HQ\nSteve Stich\, manager\, Commercial Crew Program\, NASA KSC\nJoel Montalbano\, manager\, International Space Station\, NASA JSC\nEmily Nelson\, chief flight director\, Flight Operations Directorate\, NASA JSC\nWilliam Gerstenmaier\, vice president\, Build and Flight Reliability\, SpaceX\nJunichi Sakai\, manager\, International Space Station Program\, JAXA\nSergei Krikalev\, executive director\, Human Space Flight Programs\, Roscosmos [and the first Russian cosmonaut to fly on the U.S. Space Shuttle\, in 1994]\n\nAudio of the telecon will stream on NASA Live.
