SUMMARY:NASA MEDIA TELECON ON REVIEW OF BOEING STARLINER OFT-1 "CLOSE CALL"\, July 7\, 2020\, virtual\, 2:30 pm ET
DESCRIPTION:NASA will hold a media telecon on July 7\, 2020 at 2:30 pm ET to provide an update on NASA’s investigation of the Boeing Starliner uncrewed Orbital Flight Test (OFT) in December 2019. It was a test flight as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program (CCP). \nNASA designated it a “high visibility close call” because software errors could have doomed the mission.  It did land successfully\, but Boeing has agreed to refly the test once it fixes the problems to demonstrate that it is safe.  A date has not been announced for the reflight\, although that could happen at this telecon.  After the second OFT\, a crewed test flight is required before certification for operational flight. \nParticpants are: \n\nKathy Lueders\, Associate Administrator\, Human Exploration and Operations Division (HEOMD)\nSteve Stitch\, Manager\, NASA Commercial Crew Program\n\nLueders was just appointed to her position as AA for HEOMD.  She was Manager of CCP at the time of the December 2019 test.  Her then-deputy\, Steve Stich\, has moved up to succeed her as manager of the CCP. \nThe media telecon will be broadcast on NASA Live.
