DESCRIPTION:NASA will hold a media teleconference on June 13\, 2018 at 1:30 pm ET to discuss the dust storm that is taking place on Mars and its impact on the operations of the Opportunity rover.  Opportunity is one of two small rovers (the other was Spirit) that landed on Mars in 2004.  It is solar-powered and if dust covers its solar panels it could stop operating permanently. \nParticipants in the telecon are: \n\nJohn Callas\, Opportunity project manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)\nRich Zurek\, Mars Program Office chief scientist at JPL\nJim Watzin\, director of the Mars Exploration Program at NASA Headquarters\nDave Lavery\, program executive at NASA Headquarters for the Opportunity and Curiosity rovers\n\nAudio will be streamed at NASA Live and on YouTube.
