SUMMARY:NASA OUTER PLANETS ASSESSMENT GROUP (OPAG) SPRING MTG\, June 3-5\, 2025\, Tucson\, AZ/virtual
DESCRIPTION:Update\, June 1:  This meeting is still on for June 3-5 according to its website.  The meeting is in Arizona\, which does not observe Daylight Saving Time\, so it is three hours (instead of two) behind Eastern this time of year\, like California. The agenda shows the meeting beginning on Tuesday at 9:30 am\, which is 12:30 pm EDT for example. \nUpdate\, March 23:  The meeting has been rescheduled for June 3-5\, 2025. Still in Tucson and hybrid.  From today’s Planetary Exploration Newsletter: \n \n  \nUpdate\, February 9:  This meeting is listed as “postponed” on the Lunar and Planetary Institute’s calendar.  An unsigned statement in the today’s Planetary Exploration Newsletter says the following: \n \n  \nUpdate\, February 1: An email from the OPAG chairs received by SpacePolicyOnline.com on January 31 at 11:00 pm ET says this meeting is paused in accordance with direction from NASA that all meetings and activities of Planetary Science Analysis/Assessment Groups be paused and if no further guidance is received by February 7\, it will be cancelled. The text of the email follows: \n(a message from the OPAG Co-Chairs) \nDear OPAG Community\, \nAs NASA continues to review and ensure compliance with presidential actions\, OPAG (and all of the other Planetary Science Analysis/Assessment Groups) has been asked to pause all meetings and activities.  We have also been told to make our community aware of this request. \nOur planned OPAG Town Hall at LPSC is also on hold\, and our planned OPAG community meeting scheduled for February 25–27 is also on hold. There is no guidance on how long this pause in activity will last\, and we have no information as to whether we should plan for having our meeting in late February or assume it needs to be cancelled.  \nWe will inform you as soon as we hear that the Planetary Science Analysis/Assessment Groups are allowed to restart. We anticipate cancelling the OPAG community meeting if no guidance is provided by the end of next week (February 7th). Aside from this meeting status update\, there will be no further listserve notices until we receive word that OPAG activities can restart. \nThank you for your patience and understanding\, \nCarol Paty & Morgan Cable \nOPAG Co-Chairs \nOriginal Entry: The November 10\, 2024 issue of the Planetary Exploration Newsletter says OPAG’s spring meeting will take place February 25-27\, 2025 in Tucson\, AZ.  Details were not posted on the OPAG website as of November 16.  Check that website for up to date information.
