DESCRIPTION:The leadership of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) will hold its next community Town Hall meeting on October 6\, 2022 at 10:30 am ET.  These Town Hall meetings typically feature the head of SMD\, Thomas Zurbuchen\, and the heads of each of the five divisions (astrophysics\, biological and physical research\, earth science\, heliophysics\, and planetary science and astrobiology) giving brief updates followed by a Q&A session with questions entered electronically. \nDr. Zurbuchen recently announced that he will be leaving NASA at the end of the year. NASA has posted the position searching for his successor. \nInstructions for how to listen to the meeting and how to submit a question were posted in the September 25\, 2022 Planetary Exploration Newsletter and are reproduced below. \nIt is open to “Members of SMD\, the science community\, academia\, the media\, and the public.” \n  \nNASA’s Science Mission Directorate will hold a community town hall\nmeeting with Associate Administrator for Science Thomas H. Zurbuchen\nand his leadership team on Thursday\, October 6 at 10:30 AM Eastern\nTime\, to discuss updates to NASA’s science program and share the\ncurrent status of NASA activities.
