DESCRIPTION:NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) will hold a media briefing on August 31\, 2021 at 10:00 am ET to discuss the upcoming launch of Landsat 9 from Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB)\, CA.  The briefing will air live on NASA TV\, the NASA app\, and the agency’s website. \nParticipants are: \n\nKaren St. Germain\, director of NASA’s Earth Science Division\nDel Jenstrom\, Landsat 9 project manager at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt\, Maryland\nJeff Masek\, Landsat 9 project scientist at Goddard\nDavid Applegate\, acting director of USGS\nBirgit Peterson\, geographer at USGS\nInbal Becker-Reshef\, director of NASA’s Harvest food security and agriculture program.\n\nThe launch had been planned for September 16\, but the August 27 NASA press release revealed that it has slipped to September 23.  It did not explain the delay\, but a local Santa Barbara\, CA (near VAFB) newspaper reports that it is because of a COVID-related supply chain disruption.
