DESCRIPTION:The National Academies Committee on Near Earth Objects Observations in the Infrared and Visible Wavelengths will meet December 19-21\, 2018 at the Keck Center\, 500 5th St.\, NW\, Washington\, DC.   Some sessions are closed\, but most of December 19 and 20 are open. \nThe task statement for this committee is: \nThe National Academies of Sciences\, Engineering and Medicine will establish an ad-hoc committee to investigate and make recommendations about a space-based telescope’s capabilities regarding the following: \n\nExplore the relative advantages and disadvantages of IR and visible observations of near Earth objects (NEOs).\nReview and describe the techniques that could be used to obtain NEO sizes from an infrared spectrum and delineate the associated errors in determining the size.\nEvaluate the strengths and weaknesses of these techniques and recommend the most valid techniques that give reproducible results with quantifiable errors.\n\nThe agenda and more information are on the committee’s website.
