DESCRIPTION:NOAA’s Science Advisory Board will meet April 9-10\, 2018 at the Westin DC City Center\, 1400 M Street\, NW\, Washington\, DC.  The meeting on April 9 is 9:45 am – 5:00 pm ET and on April 10 is 9:00  – 11:40 am ET. \nAmong the items on the agenda is a discussion of the recently released Earth Science from Space Decadal Survey from the National Academies of Sciences\, Engineering\, and Medicine — “Thriving on Our Changing Planet.” \nMore information is in the Federal Register notice\, which is reproduced below: \n  \nSUMMARY: The Science Advisory Board (SAB) was established by a Decision \nMemorandum dated September 25\, 1997\, and is the only Federal Advisory \nCommittee with responsibility to advise the Under Secretary of Commerce \nfor Oceans and Atmosphere on strategies for research\, education\, and \napplication of science to operations and information services. SAB \nactivities and advice provide necessary input to ensure that National \nOceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) science programs are of \nthe highest quality and provide optimal support to resource management.\n    Time and Date: The meeting will be held Monday\, 9 April\, 2018 from \n9:45 a.m. EDT to 5:00 p.m. EDT and on Tuesday\, April 10\, 2018 from 9:00 \na.m. EDT to 11:40 p.m. EDT. These times and agenda topics described \nbelow are subject to change. Please refer to the web page \nwww.sab.noaa.gov/SABMeetings.aspx for the most up-to-date meeting times \nand agenda.\n    Place: The meeting will be held at The Westin DC City Center\, 1400 \nM Street NW\, Washington\, DC.\n    Status: The meeting will be open to public participation with a 15-\nminute public comment period on April 9 from 4:45-5:00 p.m. EDT (check \nwebsite to confirm time). The SAB expects that public statements \npresented at its meetings will not be repetitive of previously \nsubmitted verbal or written statements. In general\, each individual or \ngroup making a verbal presentation will be limited to a total time of \nthree (3) minutes. Individuals or groups planning to make a verbal \npresentation should contact the SAB Executive Director by April 2\, 2018 \nto schedule their presentation. Written comments should be received in \nthe SAB Executive Director's Office by April 2\, 2018\, to provide \nsufficient time for SAB review. Written comments received by the SAB \nExecutive Director after April 2nd\, will be distributed to the SAB\, but \nmay not be reviewed prior to the meeting date. Seating at the meeting \nwill be available on a first-come\, first-served basis.\n    Special Accommodations: These meetings are physically accessible to \npeople with disabilities.
