DESCRIPTION:The National Science Foundation (NSF) will hold a media briefing on September 25\, 2020 at 1:00 pm ET to discuss NSF-supported experiments that are aboard the Northrop Grumman NG-14 Cygnus mission for delivery to the International Space Station. The NG-14 launch is scheduled for September 29. \nParticipants are: \n\nDawn Tillbury\, NSF Assistant Director for Engineering\nPeter Sunderland\, University of Maryland\, whose project focuses on understanding spherical\, low-temperature flames that can only be observed on the ISS\nYangying Zhu\, UC Santa Barbara\, whose project focuses on a new method to control bubbles and droplets using light\nNgan Huang\, Stanford University\, whose project seeks to study the progressive deterioration of skeletal muscle with age caused by Sarcopenia by looking at similar effects of microgravity\nPaolo Luzzatto-Fegiz\, UC Santa Barbara\, whose work focuses on how particles cluster once the factor of gravity is removed\nAndrew Morgan\, NASA astronaut\, who recently served as flight engineer on the ISS for Expedition 60\, 61 and 62 (July 20\,2019-April 17\, 2020)\, contributing to hundreds of experiments in biology\, Earth science\, human research\, physical sciences and technology development\nJessica Meir\, NASA astronaut\, who recently served as flight engineer on the ISS for Expedition 61 and 62 (September 25\,2019-April 17\, 2020.) During her first spaceflight\, Meir conducted the first three all-female spacewalks with crewmate Christina Koch\, totaling 21 hours and 44 minutes.\nAshley Strickland\, CNN (moderator)\n\nThe briefing is for “credentialed reporters and freelancers only” per NSF. \n\nTOMORROW\, 1 p.m. EST – @NSF and @ISS_Research will host a press briefing on science in space with researchers and astronauts @Astro_Drew and @Astro_Jessica. Space toilets! Spherical flames! Light-controlled bubbles! Deteriorating bones! Clumping particles!
