OSIRIS-REX PRE-LANDING MEDIA BRIEFING, Sept 22, 2023, virtual, 3:00 pm ET

NASA will hold a media briefing on September 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm ET (1:00 pm Mountain Time) two days before the landing of the OSIRIS-REx sample return canister at the Air Force Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR) in Utah. The canister contains samples of the asteroid Bennu and is the first time NASA is bringing samples from an asteroid back to Earth (Japan has done so twice).

Participants are:
- Lori Glaze, director, Planetary Sciences Division, NASA Headquarters, Washington
- Rich Burns, OSIRIS-REx project manager, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland
- Sandra Freund, OSIRIS-REx program manager, Lockheed Martin
- Nicole Lunning, OSIRIS-REx curation lead, NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston
- Dante Lauretta, OSIRIS-REx principal investigator, University of Arizona
NASA will provide live coverage of the landing on Sunday beginning at 10:00 am ET (8:00 am Mountain Time). The canister will land at 10:55 am ET. A post-landing news conference will take place at 5:00 pm ET (3:00 pm Mountain Time). See our separate Calendar entries for details on those events.
