SUMMARY:RELOCATION OF CREW DRAGON ENDEAVOUR\, July 21\, 2021\, Earth orbit\, 6:45 am ET
DESCRIPTION:The four astronauts who arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Endeavour on the Crew-2 mission will reboard the spacecraft to make a brief trip on July 21\, 2021 to move it from one docking port to another. \nNASA’s Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur\, JAXA’s Aki Hoshide\, and ESA’s Thomas Pesquet will board the spacecraft about 4:30 am ET\, undock from the forward port of the Harmony module at 6:45 am ET\, and redock at the space-facing Harmony port at 7:32 am ET. \nNASA TV coverage begins at 6:30 am ET. \nThat will free up the forward Harmony port for the arrival of Boeing’s uncrewed Starliner spacecraft for its Orbital Flight Test-2 (OFT-2) mission later this month. \nAll four astronauts must be aboard Crew Dragon in case anything goes awry and they have to return to Earth. Endeavour is the ride up to and back from the ISS for all of them. \nNASA is procuring crew transportation services from SpaceX (Crew Dragon) and Boeing (Starliner) as Public-Private Parntnerships. The government and the companies both paid for development of the systems\, but the companies retain ownership and sell services to NASA. \nThis will be the first time a spacecraft from each company will be docked to the ISS at the same time. \nBoeing’s OFT-2 is a second uncrewed Starliner test. The first\, in December 2019\, did not go as planned and Boeing decided to re-do it. OFT-2 is scheduled to launch on July 30. If all goes well\, a Crew Flight Test (CFT) is expected before the end of the year and operational flights in 2022.  SpaceX’s Crew Dragon is already operational.
