DESCRIPTION:NASA and its partners on the Sentinel-6A/Jason-CS mission that will continue studies of global sea level change will participate in a ceremony at NASA HQ in Washington\, DC on January 28\, 2020 at 9:00 am ET to announce a new name for the spacecraft. \nNASA’s partners on this spacecraft are NOAA\, ESA\, EUMETSAT and the French space agency CNES. \nSentinel-6A is part of the European Union’s Copernicus program and is scheduled for launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base\, CA in November. \nThe renaming ceremony will air live on NASA TV and NASA Live. \nParticipants are: \n\nNASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine\nThomas Zurbuchen\, NASA associate administrator for Science\nJosef Aschbacher\, ESA director of Earth Observation Programmes\nStephen Volz\, NOAA assistant administrator for Satellite and Information Services\nAlain Ratier\, EUMETSAT director-general\nMercedes Garcia Pérez\, head of Global Issues and Innovation of the European Union delegation to the United States\nMike Freilich\, former director of NASA’s Earth Science Division\n\n
