DESCRIPTION:The Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) will hold a hearing on the nomination of Gen. John Hyten to be Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on July 30\, 2019 at 10:00 am ET in G-50 Dirksen Senate Office Building.  The hearing will be webcast on the committee’s website. \nHyten\, who is currently Commander of U.S. Strategic Command and was Commander of Air Force Space Command\, is the only witness. \nHe appeared to be on a clear path to confirmation until a former subordinate accused him of sexual misconduct.  Senators have met privately with Hyten and with his accuser and decided to proceed with this hearing. \n
