DESCRIPTION:The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will hold a markup on January 24\, 2017 at 10:00 am ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building. Times and dates for congressional activities are subject to change\, as are the bills scheduled for consideration during a markup such as this (some may be added\, some may be deleted). Check the committee’s website for up to date information.  This committee typically webcasts its hearings and markups on its website. \nMany bills will be considered at this markup two of which are space-related: \n\nS. 141\, Space Weather Research and Forecasting Act\nH.R. 321\, Inspiring the Next Space Pioneers\, Innovators\, Researchers and Explorers (INSPIRE) WOMEN Act\n\nS. 141 is a new iteration of a bill (S. 2817) that was considered in\, but did not pass\, the 114th Congress. \nSimilarly\, H.R. 321 in a new iteration of a bill that did not clear the 114th Congress (H.R. 4755).  It has already passed the House in this 115th Congress. \nOn January 22\, the committee added the nominations of Elaine Chao to be Secretary of Transportation and Wilbur Ross to be Secretary of Commerce to the list of items that will be considered at the markup.
