DESCRIPTION:The Senate Appropriations Committee will meet on June 22\, 2023 at 10:30 am ET in 106 Dirksen Senate Office Building to mark up subcommittee allocations and two appropriatons bills (Milcon-Va and Agriculture). \nSetting subcommittee allocations — deciding how much money each of the 12 subcommittees can spend for a given fiscal year — is usually a routine\, relatively non-controversial step in the annual appropriations process. However\, last week House Appropriations Committee Republicans surprised their Democratic colleagues by setting subcommittee allocations at a level less than what House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden agreed to in the Fiscal Responsibility Act. Therefore a lot of attention will be focused on what the Senate committee does on Thursday. \nThe markup will be webcast on the committee’s website.
