DESCRIPTION:The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on the nomination of Gigi Sohn to be an FCC Commissioner on February 9\, 2022 at 10:00 am ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building. The hearing will be webcast on the committee’s website. \nThe committee already held a nomination hearing for Sohn on December 1\, 2021 and the committee was scheduled to vote on her nomination today (February 2). However\, the committee withdrew her and two others from the list of nominations to be considered after Sen. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM) suffered a stroke and would be absent. The committee majority acknowledged that all Democrats were needed to vote in favor of her nomination for it to be approved (meaning all Republicans are opposed in this 50-50 Senate). \nIf confirmed\, Sohn will give Democrats a majority on the five-seat FCC\, which is currently split 2-2.
