DESCRIPTION:The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on January 29\, 2025 at 10:00 am ET  in 253 Russell Senate Office Building on the nominaton of Howard Lutnick to be Secretary of Commerce. \nThe hearing will be preceded by an Executive Session where the committee will adopt its rules for the 119th Congress. Both will be webcast on the committee’s website. \nLutnick is the sole witness. \nThe Department of Commerce includes the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that operates the nation’s civil weather satellites. The Office of Space Commerce\, which regulates commercial remote sensing satellite companies and is developing a space situational awareness system\, TraCSS\, for civil and commercial satellite operators\, is part of NOAA.
