DESCRIPTION:The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will meet on September 17\, 2025 in 253 Russell Senate Office Building at 10:00 am ET. \nThe committee will begin by re-voting on the nomination (PN22-9) of Neil Jacobs to be Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). \nJacobs was approved by committee by voice vote on July 30\, 2025\, but when the nomination came before the Senate on September 10\, it and others were returned (recommitted) to their committees due to procedural concerns by Senate Republican leaders with the use of voice or proxy votes during committee consideration. Senate Republican leaders are in the process of changing how the chamber deals with nominations. \nThe vote will be followed by a hearing on the nominations of other individuals for government positions under the jurisdiction of the committee. \n \n
