SUMMARY:SENATE COMMERCE HRG ON NOMINATION OF NEIL JACOBS TO HEAD NOAA\, Mar 11\, 2020\, DC\, approx 10:00 am ET
DESCRIPTION:The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on March 11\, 2020 at about 10:00 am ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building to consider three nominations\, one of which is the nomination of Neil Jacobs to be Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Administrator of NOAA. \nThe hearing will take place immediately after an Executive Session concludes.  The exact time is TBD. \nJacobs was confirmed by the Senate in 2018 as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction.  In 2019\, he became Acting Administrator of NOAA.  He was nominated in December 2019 to take the position permanently after Barry Myers withdrew.  Jacobs was renominated on January 6\, 2020 because presidential nominations are only valid for the calendar year in which they are made. \nThe committee webcasts its hearings on its website.  Two other nominees will also be considered.  The complete witness list is: \n\nMr. Finch Fulton\, Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy\, Department of Transportation\nDr. Neil Jacobs\, Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere\, Department of Commerce\nMr. Chase Johnson\, Inspector General\, Federal Communications Commission\n\n
