As a result\, important bipartisan legislation will not advance today. \n“This temper tantrum is bizarre\, but… pic.twitter.com/iS2MfZbG8j \n— Senate Commerce Republicans (@SenateCommerce) March 25\, 2026 \n\nHe rescheduled the markup for this morning\, March 27\, at 10:00 am\, but the Senate is out\,  having been in session until about 2:30 am this morning debating and passing a bill to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security (but not ICE).   A new date for the markup hasn’t been posted on the committee’s website as of 8:00 am ET. \nOriginal Entry: The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will meet in Executive Session on March 25\, 2026 at 10:00 am ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building to markup several bills and vote on Coast Guard promotions. \nAmong the bills are two related to satellites: \n\nS. 1962\, Secure Space Act (Fischer\, Lujan) amends the Secure and Trusted Communications Network Act of 2019 to prohibit the FCC from granting a license or U.S. market access to entities deemed a national security risk.\nS. 3404\, Satellite Cybersecurity Act (Peters\, Cornyn) to require a report from GAO actions the Federal government has taken to support the cybersecurity of commercial satellite systems; require the Secretary of Commerce in consultation with the FCC and the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to develop and maintain a satellite system cybersecurity clearinghouse; and require the Secretary of Commerce to submit to Congress a strategy for government agencies to address and improve the cybersecurity of commercial satellite systems.\n\nThe meeting will be webcast.
