DESCRIPTION:Update\, February 13\, 6:00 pm ET: The committee just changed the start time of the hearing tomorrow to 10:30 am ET instead of 10:00. \nOriginal Entry: The Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on February 14\, 2023 at 10:00 am ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building to consider the nomination of Gigi Sohn to be a Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  The hearing will be webcast. \nSohn was nominated in the last Congress and two hearings were held and the nomination was reported from committee on a tie vote (14-14) with all Democrats in favor and all Republicans opposed.  The nomination was not considered on the Senate floor. \nPresident Biden renominated her on January 3\, 2023. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-X)\, incoming Ranking Member of the committee\, issued a statement criticizing Sohn\, but agreeing the committee has a duty to hold a hearing and review updated paperwork.
