DESCRIPTION:The Space\, Science\, and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the Senate Commerce\, Science\, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on August 1 2018 at 2:30 pm ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building on “The Search for Life: Utilizing Science to Explore our Solar System and Make New Discoveries.”  The committee webcasts its hearings on its website. \nScheduled witnesses are: \n\nDr. Sara Seager\, Professor of Physics and Planetary Science\, Massachusetts Institute of Technology\nDr. David Spergel\, Professor of Astronomy\, Princeton University\nDr. Ellen Stofan\, Director\, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum\nDr. Thomas Zurbuchen\, Associate Administrator for the Science Mission Directorate\, NASA\n\nThe witness list is subject to change. \nThe committee states it is the second in a series of hearings leading to “a potential NASA reauthorization.”  The first took place on July 25 and focused on human Mars exploration.
