Stephen A. Lang\, Senior Advisor\, Crest Hill Advisors LLC and former U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy  \nDr. James A. Lewis\, Distinguished Fellow\, Center for European Policy Analysis  \nMr. Michael Calabrese\, Director of Wireless Future and Senior Advisor of Technology & Democracy\, New America \n\nWRC conferences\, held roughly every four years by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)\, allocate frequencies for use around the world\, including for satellite communications. Countries assign terrestrial and space frequencies based on the allocations set by the ITU. \nA committee press release quotes Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on the importance of the ITU decisions to space activities: “The WRC plays a consequential role in establishing global standards for spectrum\, satellite use\, and emerging wireless technologies like 6G.
