SUMMARY:SPACEX-16 DRAGON RETURNS TO EARTH\, Jan 13\, 2019\, Pacific Ocean (NASA TV begins 6:15 pm ET)
DESCRIPTION:Update\, Jan 11:  NASA and SpaceX announced today that instead of departing ISS at 3:36 am ET on January 13\, Dragon will wait until 6:30 pm ET so the splashdown takes place when the waters will be calmer.  NASA TV coverage of departure will begin at 6:15 pm ET.  Splashdown in the Pacific off the coast of California will occur about 9:10 pm Pacific Time (12:10 am January 14 EST).  Neither NASA nor SpaceX webcast the splashdowns. \n  \nSpaceX’s CRS-16 Dragon spacecraft is now scheduled to depart the International Space Station (ISS) and return to Earth on January 13\, 2019\, landing in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California.   It arrived at ISS on December 8\, 2018 after a December 5 launch. \nDragon was supposed to depart on January 10\, but mission managers decided to delay it because of bad weather in the landing zone.  The announcement said they are “assessing” the January 13 date. \nDragon will be released from the ISS Canadarm2 at 3:36 am ET.  NASA TV coverage of the departure begins at 3:15 am ET.  Neither NASA nor SpaceX webcast these splashdowns.
