SUMMARY:FIRST SPACEX STARHOPPER HOVER TEST\, July 25\, 2019\, Boca Chica\, TX
DESCRIPTION:Update\, July 25:  The test was successfully conducted on July 25.  Read about it at NASASpaceflight.com (not a NASA website).  It “hopped” about 20 meters\, which was the plan.  A second test\, where it is intended to hop about 200 meters\, is expected in mid-August. \nUpdate\, July 24:  Two attempts were made this evening\, but both were scrubbed.  Observers expect SpaceX to try again tomorrow although the company has made no announcement. \nUpdate\, July 23:  SpaceX has not announced when the test will take place\, but knowledgeable observers think it will be tomorrow July 24\, although SpaceX is also due to launch a cargo mission (SpX-18) to ISS that day. \n\nSpaceX’s Starhopper Hop Test is NET Wednesday. The time was not announced. \n\nRaptor engine mounted on Starhopper. Aiming for hover test Tues. \n— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 12\, 2019 \n \nStarhopper is a test vehicle that is part of the development of SpaceX’s Starship\, which along with its rocket\, Super Heavy (formerly Big Falcon Rocket)\, is intended to be capable of taking people and cargo to the Moon and Mars.  NASASpaceFlight.com (which is not a NASA website) has extensive coverage of Starhopper\, Starship and Super Heavy. \nThis will be the first untethered flight of Starhopper\, which make very short flights — hops — as its name implies.
