DESCRIPTION:NASA will hold a news conference from Johnson Space Center on September 4\, 2024 at 12:00 pm ET in preparation for the departure of the Boeing Starliner Crew Flight Test (CFT) capsule from the International Space Station on Friday\, September 6.  It will air on  NASA+\, the NASA app\, YouTube\, and the agency’s website. \nNASA’s press release says participants are “NASA’s Commercial Crew and International Space Station Program managers and a flight director.”   The first two are Steve Stich and Dana Weigel. \nStarliner arrived at the ISS on June 6 with two NASA astronauts\, but problems with its propulsion system have led NASA to decide to return it to Earth empty. The two astronauts will remain on the ISS and become part of the next regular crew rotation\, returning in February 2025 with other members of Crew-9. \nStarliner will undock at 6:04 pm ET on Friday and land six hours later at White Sands\, New Mexico.  See our separate Calendar entry for details on landing coverage the post-landing press conference.
