SUMMARY:STARSHIP UPDATE\, September 28\, 2019\, Boca Chica\, TX\, 9:00 pm ET (webcast)
DESCRIPTION:Update\, September 28\, 2019\, 7:00 pm EDT:  SpaceX tweeted that because of bad weather\, this outdoor event will be delayed by an hour.  It is now “no earlier than” 8:00 pm Central time\, which is 9:00 pm Eastern. \nUpdate\, September 28\, 2019:  SpaceX has finally announced the time for the event.  It will be at 8:00 pm EDT (7:00 pm local time in Boca Chica).   It will be webcast on spacex.com/webcast. \n\nStarship at our launch facility in Cameron County\, Texas. Watch as @elonmusk gives an update on the vehicle today at ~7:00 p.m. CDT → https://t.co/gtC39uBC7z pic.twitter.com/HBxpfy2ITj \n— SpaceX (@SpaceX) September 28\, 2019 \n \nUpdate\, August 28:  Musk tweeted today that the Starship update will be on September 28\, the anniversary of the first time SpaceX reached orbit. \n\nAiming for 20km flight in Oct & orbit attempt shortly thereafter. Starship update will be on Sept 28th\, anniversary of SpaceX reaching orbit. Starship Mk 1 will be fully assembled by that time. \n— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 28\, 2019 \n \nUpdate\, August 20: Musk tweeted that it would make more sense to provide this update later\, perhaps in mid-September. \n\nWill probably make sense to do this when Starship Mk 1 has 3 Raptors\, moving body fins & landing gear installed\, which is hopefully mid September \n— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 20\, 2019 \n \nIn a series of tweets August 3-4\, Elon Musk said that he will provide an update on his Starship program on August 24\, 2019 at SpaceX’s Boca Chica\, TX test site.  The company has been conducting “hop” tests of a Starship prototype\, Starhopper\, there. \nThe time is TBA. \nMusk is developing Starship to take people and cargo to Earth orbit\, to the Moon and to Mars.  Starship is both the spacecraft that will carry crew and/or cargo and the second stage of the Super Heavy rocket (formerly Big Falcon Rocket or BFR). \nIn one of the tweets he said “We should have Starship Mk1 with 3 Raptors almost ready to fly by then.”  Raptor is the name of the engine for Starship/Super Heavy.  One Raptor is used for the Starhopper prototype.  Seven are needed for Starship and 31 for Super Heavy’s first stage. \nIn another\, he said the update will be a “detailed review of the first orbital Starship\, explaining the pros & cons of each design decision.”
