SUMMARY:STATE OF THE SPACE INDUSTRIAL BASE 2021 (Atlantic Council)\, Nov 18\, 2021\, virtual\, 3:00-5:00 pm ET
DESCRIPTION:The Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security will hold a webinar on November 18\, 2021 from 3:00-500 pm ET to discuss its new report “State of the Space Industrial Base 2021: Building Space Infrastructure and Services for Security and Prosperity.” \nMore information is on the event’s website\, which says: \nMilitaries\, economies\, and societies are increasingly dependent on services offered from space. Indeed\, commerce through and enabled by space applications make up an increasing portion of the global economy. Yet threats to space abound\, from mismanagement of finite space in Earth orbit\, to states taking aggressive action with satellites. Atlantic Council experts have called for a long-term approach to space\, including better space governance at the domestic and international levels. This event will discuss these themes and launch the 2021 “State of the Space Industrial Base Report.” \nIn July 2021\, the US Space Force\, Defense Innovation Unit\, and the Air Force Research Laboratory convened the third State of the Space Industrial Base Conference\, hosted by NewSpace New Mexico. With input from 250 experts from across government\, industry\, and academia\, the “State of the Space Industrial Base Report 2021” discusses a comprehensive unified civil\, commercial\, and national security space strategy. Prior reports were released in 2019 and 2020. \nThis Atlantic Council event will feature two panels with authors of the report and industry experts to discuss the report’s findings and recommendations for national security innovation. Join us to hear what is required of the administration\, the Defense Department\, and the investment community to secure US leadership in the space domain. \nParticipants include: \n\nBrig Gen John M. Olson\, USSF\, Mobilization Assistant to the Chief of Space Operations\nMs. Mandy Vaughn\, CEO and Founder\, GXO\, Inc.\nMr. Steven J. Butow\, Director\, Space Portfolio\, Defense Innovation Unit\nCol Eric Felt\, USAF\, Commander\, Phillips Research Site and Director\, Space Vehicles Directorate\, Air Force Research Laboratory\nDr. Mir Sadat\, Nonresident Senior Fellow\, Forward Defense\, Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security\, Atlantic Council
