DESCRIPTION:SAE International and the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) will hold an invitation-only workshop from October 4-5\, 2018 to discuss formation of a Space Safety Institute.  It will take place at the Logistics Management Institute\, 7940 Jones Branch Drive\, Tysons\, VA. \nFor more information\, contact  Logen Johnson at logen.johnson@sae.org or +1-202-434-8943 \n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration Open! \n*please note\, this is an invitation only event*  \nPlease Join SAE International\, IAASS\, and ISSF for  “The Case for a Space Safety Institute” Workshop \nWhen: Thursday\, October 4th and Friday\, October 5th\, 2018\nWhere: Tysons\, Virginia\, USA (Washington DC Metro area) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecently SAE International and IAASS (International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety) co-published IAASS-SSI-1700 Commercial Human-Rated System standard as a first step towards the establishment of a complete set of safety\, technical\, and management standards to be used by industry for the design and development of commercial space systems\, and by an independent third-party\, the Space Safety Institute\, for their certification. \nThis one and a half day workshop is organized and sponsored by SAE International and ISSF (International Space Safety Foundation) to discuss the formation of the Space Safety Institute and the establishment of several standard committees. The Workshop will bring together industry leaders\, governments\, civil and military regulators and space safety certification professionals and subject matter experts.
