THE EISENHOWER LEGACY IN SPACE (CSIS), Sept 16, 2020, virtual, 11:00 am ET

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will hold a webinar on September 16, 2020 at 11:00 am ET.

The topic is “The Eisenhower Legacy in Space” and guests are Susan Eisenhower, President Eisenhower’s granddaughter, and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine.

Dwight D. Eisenhower, called Ike by almost everyone, was President of the United States when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik on October 4, 1957, initiating the Space Age.  Nine months later, Congress passed and he signed into law the 1958 National Aeronautics and Space Act, which created NASA to run the nation’s civil space program with military space activities assigned to DOD, an arrangement that remains today.

Susan Eisenhower just published a book, How Ike Led, and CSIS will hold a separate webinar with her on September 10 at 4:00 pm ET to discuss other aspects of her grandfather’s history as a leader.

More information and a registration link for the webinar are on the event’s website.
