SUMMARY:THIRD OF THREE ISS SPACEWALKS (McClain\, Saint-Jacques)\, Apr 8\, 2019\, Earth orbit
DESCRIPTION:Updated:  NASA changed plans for spacewalks 2 and 3.  EVA 2 was conducted by Nick Hague and Christina Koch.  For EVA 3\,  Saint-Jacques now will be paired with Anne McClain instead of Hague.  The change was made because configuring two medium size spacesuits required for Koch and McClain to do EVAs at the same time would have been too time consuming\, so they used one large and one medium spacesuit for each of three EVAs meaning one male and one female.  McClain had thought she could manage with a large and used one on EVA 1.  She realized it was too difficult in what\, for her\, was an oversized suit and recommended that NASA change the spacewalkers rather than delaying EVA 2 to modify the suits. \nOriginal Entry: International Space Station (ISS) astronauts will perform a series of three spacewalks from March 22-April 8\, 2019.  NASA TV will provide coverage of all them\, each of which will last approximately 6.5 hours. \nThe spacewalk on March 29 will be conducted by NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch\, the first spacewalk ever to involve an all-female crew.  McClain will also participate in a March 22 spacewalk with NASA astronaut Nick Hague. \nThe full spacewalk schedule as of March 17 is as follows: \nDate: March 22\, 2019\, 8:05 am ET\nSpacewalkers: Anne McClain (NASA)\, Nick Hague (NASA) \nDate: March 29\, 2019\, 8:20 am ET\nSpacewalkers: Anne McClain (NASA)\, Christina Koch (NASA) \nDate: April 8\, 2019\, time TBA\nSpacewalkers: Nick Hague (NASA)\, David Saint-Jacques (Canadian Space Agency) \nNASA describes the spacewalks as follows: \n“McClain\, Saint-Jacques\, Hague and Koch also are all scheduled for the first spacewalks of their careers to continue upgrades to the orbital laboratory. McClain and Hague are scheduled to begin work to upgrade the power system March 22\, and McClain and Koch will complete the upgrades to two station power channels during a March 29 spacewalk. This will be the first-ever spacewalk with all-female spacewalkers. Hague and Saint-Jacques will install hardware for a future science platform during an April 8 spacewalk.”
