NASA Changes Out Two Center Directors — JSC and Glenn
NASA formally announced today a change of command at the agency’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) near Houston, TX and Glenn Research Center (GRC) in Cleveland, OH.
At JSC, home to the astronaut corps, current director and former astronaut Mike Coats is being replaced by former astronaut Ellen Ochoa. She is a veteran of four space shuttle flights and has been JSC’s deputy director since 2007. The changeover will occur after Coats retires at the end of the year.
GRC Deputy Director James Free similarly will succeed the current director, Ray Lugo, when Lugo retires in January. Free has been deputy for the past year and a half.
