NASA MEDIA TELECON WITH JWST MIRROR ALIGNING UPDATE, Feb 11, 2022, virtual, 11:00 am ET

NASA will hold a media telecon on February 11, 2022 at 11:00 am ET to provide an update on the commissioning of the James Webb Space Telescope, especially progress on aligning the primary mirror’s 18 gold-plated segments.

Audio of the telecon will stream on NASA Live.

Thirty minutes in advance, NASA will post images on the JWST blog showing how they have identified starlight through each of the 18 segments.

• Lee Feinberg, Webb optical telescope element manager, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland
• Marshall Perrin, Webb deputy telescope scientist, Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore
• Marcia Rieke, principal investigator for the NIRCam instrument and regents professor of astronomy, University of Arizona in Tucson
