CURRENT PLAN

CREW-4 DOCKING AT THE ISS, Apr 27, 2022, Earth orbit, 8:15 pm ET

(NASA TV)

Update, April 25:  The Crew-4 launch is still scheduled for April 27 at 3:52 am ET.

It will dock later that day at about 8:15 pm ET with hatch opening at about 9:45 pm ET.  NASA’s schedule says the welcome ceremony will not be for several hours after that, however, on April 28 at 2:40 am ET.

NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website will be providing coverage beginning at 12:00 am ET April 27 for launch and docking.

Update, April 23: High winds continue to delay the return of Axiom-1.  At the moment the launch of Crew-4 is planned for April 27 at 3:52 am ET. NASA didn’t specify when docking would occur if the launch takes place then. We’re using April 28 merely as a place holder in this calendar. The time between launch and docking varies widely depending on orbital dynamics.

Update, April 20: The launch of Crew-4 has been delayed because the return of the Axiom-1 private astronaut mission has been delayed due to weather.  Axiom-1 must depart the ISS before Crew-4 can arrive because they use the same docking port.  NASA and SpaceX want at least two days between Axiom-1’s splashdown and Crew-4’s launch.

At the moment, the earliest launch date for Crew 4 is April 26 at 4:15 am ET, but is subject to change. NASA did not announce when docking would occur.

Original Entry: If Crew-4 launches as scheduled on April 23, 2022 at 5:26 am ET, it will dock with the International Space Station the next day, April 24, at 6:00 am ET. The hatches between ISS and Crew Dragon will open at about 7:50 am ET and a welcome ceremony will take place at 8:15 am ET.

In addition to the ISS crew members, participants in the welcome ceremony on the ground are:

  • Kathryn Lueders, associate administrator, Space Operations Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters
  • Josef Aschbacher, director general, ESA

The event will air on NASA TV and NASA Live.

NASA TV will provide continuous coverage of launch through the welcome ceremony beginning at 1:45 am ET on April 23.
