Thursday, May 4, 3:00 pm EDT

Senior NASA leadership has frequently observed that humans are closer to their first mission to Mars than ever before in history. Critical to human exploration of Mars will be healthy astronauts traveling to, working on, and returning from the Red Planet.

Join Tony Darnell, Harley Thronson and Alberto Conti as they discuss with Dr. Arnauld Nicogossian (George Mason University), Dr. Scott M. Smith (NASA JSC) and Mr. Charles Doarn (University of Cincinnati) current knowledge underpinning policies and practices to sustain health and well being during this grandest of future human adventures.

The Center for the Study of International Medical Policies and Practices [CSIMPP], Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University is participating with the American Astronautical Society and American Astronomical Society in a series of “Footsteps to Mars” Google Hangout round-table discussions on human health and performance of future space travelers exploring the Solar System.

The best place to watch the hangout will be on YouTube, broadcast on the Deep Astronomy Channel.
